Lesson #1

What is this all about?

This section will provide you with information on the background of this Ballot Question. We will provide the law in question, explain the Referendum process as outlined by the Massachusetts State Constitution and how we got to where we are today.

Lesson #2

Current Massachusetts Gun Laws Already on the Books

Massachusetts already has some of the strictest, most prohibitive gun laws on the books within the United States. Prior to this new law, the following laws were already in place.
* Prohibitions on gun possession by subjects of domestic violence restraining orders
* Prohibitions on gun possession by subjects of emergency (ex parte) domestic violence restraining orders
* Extreme-risk protection orders (“red-flag” laws)
* Bans on the sale of assault weapons or high-capacity magazines
* Child-access prevention (safe storage) laws
* Universal background checks for handguns
* Minimum age of 20 for purchase of handguns
* Waiting period of at least 24 hours to acquire a purchased handgun
* Prohibitions on gun possession by those with mental health or cognitive disorders

Lesson #3

Changes within the New Law

The Legislature and Governor Healey keep repeating publicly that the new law puts in place Red Flag Laws and Regulates Ghost Guns. They say it will stop violent gun crime and keep Massachusetts Residents safer. This is disingenuous and not really honest.

Ghost Guns, which already fall under current laws once they leave a house, account for 10 sentences in a 2500+ sentence law that is 116 pages. The rest of the law deals with cataloging the private details of every law-abiding gun owner in Massachusetts. The creation of a central, extensive personal database that could be accessed by Hackers and others with ill intent. It prohibits non-resident junior hunting, requires a Firearms ID card for Chemical Defense Sprays, creates possibly 21,000 felons out of law abiding gun owners who purchased semi shotguns and rifles legally under the old laws.

Lesson #4

The Real State of Crime in Massachusetts

Proponents of this new law will repeat over and over, that Massachusetts has the lowest Death rates from Guns in the Country. But what is the real crime picture in Massachusetts and who is committing these violent, gun related crimes?

The Factual Journey Begins

Would you tolerate the “The Act of Modernizing Free Speech” or “The Act of Modernizing Freedom of Religion”?

What if they created a central database of all Jews, Catholics, Muslims and made that accessible to the Public or Hackers…
Would You Accept That?

Of course not…
But that is What Governor Maura Healey and The Massachusetts signed into law for Gun Owners on July 25, 2024. Now it’s time to Repeal this Dangerous Law!
